✨ SHMS Celebrates Black History Month! ✨ As we close out Black History Month, we honor the incredible legacy of African American leaders who have shaped our history. Today, we recognize Thurgood Marshall, a trailblazing lawyer, civil rights activist, and the first African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice. 🌟⚖️ Born in Baltimore, MD in 1908, Marshall dedicated his career to fighting for justice and equality. He founded the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and argued landmark cases, including Brown v. Board of Education, which led to the desegregation of public schools. 🏛️✊🏾 His legacy is honored by landmarks such as Baltimore’s BWI Airport and a statue at Lawyer’s Mall in Annapolis, serving as lasting reminders of his impact on civil rights and American history. 📌 Let’s continue to celebrate, learn, and reflect on the leaders who have paved the way for progress! 🙌🏿📚💡 #BlackHistoryMonth #ThurgoodMarshall #SHMSProud #HonoringOurHistory
