On the day before the 4th, SES Summer Academy 4th graders developed Patriotic Flags to represent different fractions.

The kids loved working with 4H to change milk to paste in this awesome experiment!

What a fun afternoon!!! Pre-K 3 had our transportation day! We had a "wheely" great time riding around on our bikes/scooters, eating yummy treats, and getting some end-of-year awards!! Thank you to our parents for joining us and bringing our wheels!!! 🚲🛞🍉

Author and Worcester County Legend, Al "Hondo" Handy, conducted a special book giveaway at SES earlier today. Handy shared key elements and lessons his autobiography intended to teach others with Mr. Johnson's interested third graders. The children were thrilled with receiving their own, autographed copy of Mr. Handy's book. The class was thankful to enjoy this time with a writer. Hoping this experience inspires them to write and follow their big dreams.

Did you hear the good news!? Our school library received a $5,000 grant from the Maryland Coastal Bays Program this spring. Most of the funds will go directly to books for the library, yet $700 will be used toward educational toys, which is what today's stories are about.
Our first delivery arrived last week right before PreK-3's library visit. Kids got to pass the package around the circle while we sang, when the song ended, a couple of kids worked together to open the package. It was the ladybug! They talked about the environment, passed the ladybug around, and hugged it before we moved to the next class routine. Aww!
Later the same day, 2nd graders came to the school library. After their lesson and checkout, two 2nd graders took a challenge to find the right home for our new ladybug. They searched online to discover, "Where do books about insects live in our library?" and then placed the ladybug and some books on display so other readers could find books about insects more easily than before. It was a fun day!
Then this week, another delivery filled with an ocean puzzle, recycling games, a recycling book, and more stuffed animals arrived! Students immediately noticed how these new stuffed animals on the shelves could help them find books on insects, birds, ducks, sharks, and whales! We love our new cuddly clues to find books! These animals also make great learning buddies as kids teach the animals about recycling, and life cycles and read to them.
If you went to Bay Day in White Horse Park on Sunday, that's the same amazing organization that has granted us these wonderful opportunities! "Thank you MCBP for making this possible."

Worcester County Public Schools will open one-hour late today, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, due to foggy conditions. Buses will operate accordingly. All school programs will begin following the one-hour delay.
